Position Overview

TRAC Builders is seeking an experienced and motivated Carpentry Crew Foreman with 5+ years of commercial construction and carpentry experience to join our field team and support projects throughout the Boston Metro Area.

The Carpentry Crew Foreman is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and day-to-day direction to TRAC Builders’ carpentry and field crews in the successful completion of assigned projects and tasks. This position works closely with field leadership and project teams to coordinate work, manage manpower and productivity, maintain project schedules, and ensure work is completed safely and to TRAC Builders’ standards for quality.

In addition to performing carpentry work as required, the Carpentry Crew Foreman serves as a leader in the field, setting expectations for safety, workmanship, productivity, teamwork, and professionalism. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial construction, carpentry methods, construction documents, field coordination, and sequencing of work.

The successful candidate will be an experienced carpenter and dependable field leader who can effectively direct crews, communicate with project stakeholders, anticipate field needs, and proactively address issues that may affect safety, quality, or project progress.

This position requires regular travel to project sites throughout the Boston Metro Area.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and direction to carpenters, laborers, and assigned field crews.
• Work closely with field leadership to manage jobsite safety, quality, schedule, manpower, productivity, and execution of assigned work.
• Perform carpentry work as necessary while effectively leading and coordinating crew activities.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate daily work activities to ensure assigned scopes are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
• Communicate daily work expectations, priorities, and assignments clearly to field personnel.
• Monitor crew productivity and performance and proactively address issues that may impact project schedule, quality, or efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with TRAC Builders’ project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and other trades to coordinate work and maintain project progress.
• Establish and maintain respectful, effective, and professional working relationships with team members and project stakeholders.
• Communicate professionally with clients, TRAC Builders’ field and project management teams, subcontractors, trade unions, governmental agencies, and other project stakeholders as required.
• Assist the project and field teams with establishing jobsite logistics, field coordination, material staging, equipment needs, and sequencing of work.
• Read and understand project drawings, plans, specifications, and other construction documents applicable to assigned scopes of work.
• Maintain awareness of project scope and communicate potential scope changes, conflicts, or constructability concerns to field and project leadership.
• Identify field conditions or constructability issues that may impact the work and communicate them promptly to the appropriate team members.
• Ensure assigned work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, company standards, and applicable quality requirements.
• Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship and workmanship while providing guidance and feedback to crew members.
• Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve field productivity, quality, coordination, and execution.
• Work collaboratively with other departments and project team members to address quality concerns and implement appropriate corrective measures.
• Maintain a strong commitment to jobsite safety and ensure all assigned work is performed in accordance with TRAC Builders’ safety policies and applicable safety requirements.
• Lead by example in maintaining safe work practices and ensure crew members properly wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety procedures.
• Oversee applicable project safety activities and assist with required daily safety documentation.
• Prepare, communicate, and maintain required safety paperwork for assigned crew activities.
• Conduct and/or participate in foreman meetings, pre-task planning meetings, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and project staff meetings.
• Assist with managing jobsite manpower, production, performance, and safety.
• Coordinate and order equipment, tools, materials, and supplies necessary to complete assigned project scopes.
• Purchase project supplies not stocked by the company and coordinate delivery or pickup as necessary to maintain project progress.
• Maintain and properly use company tools, equipment, and other resources.
• Communicate manpower, material, equipment, schedule, and field needs to the appropriate field or project leadership in a timely manner.
• Utilize applicable technology, including email, text messaging, computers, mobile devices, and project-related software, to communicate and document field activities as required.

• Represent TRAC Builders professionally on the jobsite and during interactions with clients, subcontractors, trade partners, and other project stakeholders.
• Attend company and industry events, including meetings, trainings, workshops, and other professional development activities as required.
• Travel to project sites throughout the Boston Metro Area as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.

Education & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction and carpentry experience, with demonstrated experience leading or coordinating field crews preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial carpentry, construction methods, building trades, sequencing of work, and jobsite operations.
• Demonstrated carpentry experience including framing, siding, window installation, and the proper use of measuring equipment and carpentry tools.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings, plans, specifications, and related project documentation.
• Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
• Proven ability to organize work, coordinate manpower, and maintain productivity while meeting project schedule and quality expectations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively direct, motivate, and work alongside carpenters, laborers, and other field personnel.
• Strong communication, teamwork, initiative, problem-solving, and dependability.
• Ability to identify field challenges and effectively communicate potential solutions to field and project leadership.
• Ability to safely operate and oversee the use of tools, equipment, and machinery associated with assigned work.
• Ability to perform the hands-on carpentry and field activities associated with the position while adhering to all applicable safety requirements.
• Basic proficiency with email, text messaging, computers, mobile devices, and other relevant field technology.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• Willingness to obtain OSHA 30 certification if not already held.
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Boston Metro Area as required.

Compensation

Salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capabilities.
