TRAC Builders completed the construction of a new terminal building for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) at Block Island State Airport in New Shoreham, RI. The work included relocating the airport’s hangar facilities and, once the new terminal was operational, demolishing the existing terminal to make way for expanded airside and landside functions. TRAC’s self-performance team handled concrete foundations, exterior siding, and key structural elements, ensuring precision and quality control in the challenging coastal environment. MEP systems were fully integrated to meet the functional demands of an active airport terminal, while coordination with RIAC and multiple stakeholders ensured that all phases of construction adhered to security protocols and minimized disruption to ongoing airport operations. The completed terminal offers improved passenger amenities, enhanced accessibility, and expanded operational capabilities for Block Island.
