Position Overview
TRAC Builders is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Project Manager with 7+ years of construction project management experience to join our team. This position will support projects throughout New England, with the majority of TRAC Builders’ work located in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and the Islands. Travel to project sites and other locations is required based on project needs.
The Senior Project Manager holds overall accountability for the successful planning, execution, financial performance, and delivery of assigned construction projects. This role is responsible for establishing project objectives, developing comprehensive project plans and schedules, setting performance benchmarks, identifying and coordinating project participants, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with TRAC Builders’ standards for quality.
The Senior Project Manager will oversee the effective use of project resources, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, while supporting cost-effective procurement without compromising quality or safety. This position requires strong leadership and close collaboration with project teams, field personnel, clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to anticipate project challenges, develop proactive solutions, maintain clear and consistent communication, and lead project teams through all phases of construction.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Play a key leadership role in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and identifying the resources necessary for successful project execution.
- Develop a thorough understanding of project objectives, identify and select project participants, and assist with subcontractor and partner selection and buyout.
- Establish project teams, develop project objectives and goals, and clearly assign individual roles and responsibilities.
- Manage project accounting functions, including project budgets, team expenses, cost tracking, forecasting, and minimizing financial exposure and project risk.
- Manage projects to meet or exceed established profitability goals.
- Collaborate with site teams to prepare and maintain reports necessary for successful project management, including monthly financial reports, progress analyses, project schedules, billings, safety/loss analyses, and status reports.
- Ensure requests for pricing related to changes in the work are issued promptly and that subcontractor pricing is received and evaluated in a timely manner.
- Prepare and issue appropriate change orders to clients and subcontractors.
- Lead the project team in achieving project schedule objectives. Develop, validate, and maintain project schedules to ensure construction activities are accurately planned, sequenced, and procured.
- Develop project work plans and revise them as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain effective communication with contractors and subcontractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
- Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, including clients, architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, field personnel, and labor.
- Monitor and document the progress of construction activities on a regular basis and conduct recurring status meetings with project teams and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and action items for subcontractor meetings, owner meetings, preconstruction and preconference meetings, status meetings, and other project-related meetings.
- Maintain weekly project progress photographs and supporting documentation.
- Ensure project records and documentation are accurate, organized, current, and complete.
- Identify elements of project design and construction that may give rise to disputes, claims, schedule impacts, or other project risks and proactively work to address them.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients and review project deliverables prepared by the team prior to submission to the client.
- Manage and monitor procurement, submittals, and critical-path activities to ensure timely project execution.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration between office and field teams and proactively address challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend company and industry events, including meetings, trainings, workshops, and other professional development activities as required.
- Travel to project sites throughout New England as required, with the majority of TRAC Builders’ projects located in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and the Islands.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of construction project management experience in a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or equivalent role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the construction industry, construction methods, building trades, and sequencing of work.
- Thorough understanding of jobsite safety requirements and commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Demonstrated experience with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor coordination, and financial management.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings, plans, specifications, contracts, and related project documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and coordinate diverse project teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with relevant construction management technology and project management tools.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and other locations throughout New England as required.
